A rare American example of an 18th century Chippendale mahogany five drawer chest with a molded over hanging top.  Five graduated drawers with cock beading and bold ogee bracket feet.  Features mahogany, white pine, and ash secondary woods, and period brasses returned to original holes.  Period side carrying handle and working locks.    In wonderful, well maintained estate condition.   Attributed to Portsmouth, NH and similar to catalog entry 51, page 236 in The Furniture Masterworks of John and Thomas Seymour by Robert D. Massey, Jr.  C. 1780-1800.
