An exquisitely detailed mantle and overmantle in green paint with a central shell motif and garland swag borders.  Carved urns and stiles are decorated with berry and leaf design.  The overmantle features three beveled mirrors with four ionic columns with lion's head motif at the top.  Pure "Adams" design.  England, circa 1800.  65" W X 80 1/2" H X 9" D.  Opening is 37 1/2" H X 35 1/2" W.
